Buddhism considers to be well-known though out the world and Mostly in Asia its a big role of Buddhist teachings and Buddhism. All Theravada Buddhist monks are aware of the Rainy Retreats that falls in the month of August. It's variable by one country to another because the calenders are different in the time Zones.

What do monks do during the Rainy Retreat?
The rainy retreats are about three months and In these three months or these three rainy retreats monks are not allowed to roam or travel to any places. Monks really have to stay at temples all days and nights. Sometimes monks can go to see friends or go to do some important works on the day time but at night the nights should be spend inside the temples where they have taken the determination of spending the three rainy retreats. 

What is the meaning of Rainy Retreats?
The meaning of the rainy retreat means the rainy season. In Asian countries the rain starts from August-November and sometimes some Asian countries have to face rain and water always through out the months until November. So, According to the Buddhist teachings and what was recorded in Buddhist texts, its said that monks are not allowed to go out from the temples during the rainy season due to many difficulties and instead to practice Buddhism and meditation.
